  • While in the Dwight District, he owned a store and later took up farming corn and cattle. They resided in Dwight fifteen years before moving to Crab Orchard, Nebraska. They followed Will Rutherford, David's brother-in-law, to Alberta in 1905 and homesteaded NE 28-41-14-W4 and bought the S1/2 33-41-14-W4. They lived sixteen miles south of the town of Killam, Alberta. Thier home became a landmark known as "The Duncan home on the hill."
