- The James Wells family farmed at Dennington, James and his wife Ann are buried together at buried at the Rendham Independent Chapel.
The inscription on their marker reads:
Memory of/
ANN WELLS/ died 13 Feb 1799/ Aged 65 years
Jas WELLS/ Died 26 July/ 1796 Aged 61 years
Dangers stand thick thro all the ground, To push us to the Tomb/
And fierce diseases wait around/
to hurry mortals home/
Then what your thoughts design to do/
Your hands with all their might persue/
Since no device or work is found/
Nor faith nor hope beneath the ground
