  • BIRTH: Might have been born in 1798, was 83 years old in 1881 P.E.I. census and 93 in 1891 census.

    DEATH: Buried in Queens county, P.E.I.

    MISC: 1881 census also shows a woman named Marsha living at the same residence as John (#28) and his parents. She was born in England and is 27 years old, both her and John were shown as married people. Was she a first wife to John, and if so was there any children from this marriage? My father is unaware of this woman.

    The Minchins - July 1998 Daniel was about six years old when his father emmigrated from Ireland. He worked in the boatyeard at Fullerton's Marsh on the south side of the Hillsborough River. "Fullertons Creek flows NW into Hillsborough River, Lot 48. ...Fullertons March is an adhacent feature (Geographical Names of Prince Edward Island, Canadian Oermanent Committee on Geographical Names, Ottawa, 1973, p. 52). Daniel moved to Cardigan about 1825 and worked at the Welsh and Owen shipyard. His wife, Mary Ann Ferguson, worked for the Owen family before her marriage. Daniel was Anglican but became Presbyterian on his marriage to Mary Ann Furguson. In July 1831, for 50 pounds, he purchased 100 acres of land from a James Montgomery in Lot 51 (New Perth) and started clearing it.
